York Castle Museum, housed in two converted 18th century prison buildings, includes reconstructed Victorian and Edwardian streets, shops and merchandise - experience four hundred years of fascinating social history. A collection of rooms have been furnished to represent family living over the last 400 years, and includes a collection of cookers, washers and other domestic equipment. Also famous for its fine collections of costume, textiles, military and social history.
