Known as the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation, Brooklands Museum makes a fabulous day out for car and plane enthusiasts. The Brooklands Motor Course in Weybridge, Surrey, was built back in 1907 and much of the track and buildings are still around for visitors to see today. This is also the home of Concorde and many other engineering and technological firsts throughout the 20th century, all of which are explored in the museum. See racing cars, bikes and motorbikes, a wonderful collection of Hawker and Vickers/BAC-built aircraft and, of course, the supersonic star of the 20th century on home turf. This is also the site of the London Bus Museum which houses the largest collection of historic London buses in the world, with 35 to inspect dating from 1875 to 1979. Go and find land speed record holder Malcolm Campbell’s shed, gaze in awe at the record-holding Napier Railton 24 litre track racing car or sign up for one of the many events held here including nightfall museum tours, family fun days and race days.
