Housesteads Roman Fort & Museum
Housesteads Roman Fort & Museum covers an area of 5 acres. It is the most complete example of a Roman fort in Britain and is one of the twelve permanent forts built by Emperor Hadrian in around 124 AD. The Museum houses a range of objects found at the site, including flat-bottomed pottery and larger cooking pots which are Friesian in origin. Some of the Wall has been partially reconstructed to give one of the most vivid pictures of the Romans and their works in Britain.
