Allen Gallery

The Allen Gallery houses an outstanding collection of ceramics, nearly 1900 items dating from 1250 to the present day. Also on display are the unique Elizabethan Tichborne spoons, 12 silver-gilt spoons by Christpher Wace, a range of delightful watercolours and oil paintings by local artist William Herbert Allen, dolls, fine dolls´ house and furniture along with toys and games. In summer the delightful walled garden behind the Gallery has sculpture exhibitions, and there is a programme of temporary exhibitions every few weeks that cover a wide variety of topics.
