Derby Museum & Art Gallery

The Derby Museum & Art Gallery, opened in 1879, houses the internationally important collection of major paintings by Joseph Wright of Derby (1734-97). Also on display is a fine collection of Derby porcelain, made in the city since 1750. Derbyshire wildlife and geology feature in a splendid series of natural settings and hands-on exhibits. Other galleries are devoted to local regiments, local archaeology and Bonnie Prince Charlie“s visit to Derby during the 1745 uprising. The Museum has an exciting and varied temporary exhibition programme.
