Museum of the Border Regiment & Kings Own Royal Border Regiment


The Museum of the Border relates the history of Cumbria´s County Infantry Regiment, local Militia and Volunteer units from 1702 to the present day. Regiment & Kings Own Royal Border Regiment, located in Carlisle Castle, a superb medieval fortress founded in 1092, which has been the home of the Regiment since 1873. The displays on two floors include uniforms, weapons, equipment, medals, silver, pictures, memorabilia and much more.

Opening Times: Apr to Sep Daily 09:30-18:00, Nov to Mar Daily 10:00-16:00. Closed Xmas & New Year.
Admission: Included in entry charge to castle - Adult £3.80, Child £1.90, Concession £2.90.
Location: North side of city centre, ten minutes from railway station. Adjacent car park Devonshire Walk on the west side of the Castle, disabled parking in the Castle.
