Gallery Oldham

Gallery Oldham is an award-winning building, opened in 2002. It forms the first phase of Oldham´s new Cultural Quarter. The fine and decorative art collection was first established by Victorian industrial philanthropists, and now includes work by modern and contempory artists. The large social history collection represents the lives of local people, from the industrial era of cotton and engineering to the present day. The extensive natural history collection of plants, geology, insects and birds reflects the historic local passion for scientific study. The gallery´s changing exhibition programme features items from the collections alongside touring exhibitions and newly commissioned work. There are regular events and educational activities.
