Bolton Museum and Archive Service

The Bolton Museum, Art Gallery & Aquarium, houses an impressive collection of fine and decorative art dating from the 18th to the 20th century. This includes watercolours and drawings, a prominent collection of modern British art prints, along with 20th century sculpture and contemporary ceramics. There are extensive collections of Egyptology, ethnography, natural, local and industrial history, with examples of machinery and working models. The Natural History department includes the Wildlife on your Doorstep Gallery and the aquarium is heavily involved in conservation with a highly specialised breeding programme. In Matrch 2006 our new art gallery opens which will display over 300 pieces of fine and decorative art from our collections.
