Museum of Edinburgh

The Museum of Edinburgh is home to important collections relating to the story of Edinburgh from pre-historic times to the present day. The Museum´s treasures include the National Covenant, the great charter demanding religious freedoms, signed in 1638. Among the items on display are the feeding bowl and collar presented to `Greyfriars Bobby´, the little Skye Terrier dog that maintained a vigil by the grave of his master and won the hearts of the people of Edinburgh. Collections include Scottish pottery, Edinburgh silver and glass and a colourful collection of shop signs. There are regular temporary exhibitions.
