Pontefract Museum

Pontefract Museum is set in a flamboyant Art Nouveau building with many original furnishings that was originally a Carnegie free library. The museum traces the history of Pontefract, from the civil war, the liquorice factories to life in a workhouse. Also on display is a room dedicated to Knottingley Glass, coins from the English Civil War and maps showing how the area has developed. There is also a touring temporary exhibition programme.
