Fishbourne Roman Palace

This site of Fishbourne Roman Palace was discovered in 1960 when a water main was being laid. Evidence suggests that it was developed from three phases of building and dates from the time of the Roman invasion in AD43. The museum is built on the excavations of the former Roman palace of which the north wing can be seen by visitors. Britain´s finest collection of Roman mosaics are on display along with other finds, such as skeletons, from this internationally important site. A Roman garden has been replanted to its original plan. New Collections Discovery Centre. Special events are held throughout the year.
