Hatton Gallery


The Hatton Gallery opened in 1926 and is situated within the University of Newcastle. The permanent collections contains over 3500 works that includes paintings, sculptures, prints and drawings, some dating from the 14th century. On display is the internationally significant Merzbarn wall by Kurt Schwitters, which is the only surviving example of his work. Also the Uhlman Collection of African Art, donated by Fred and Diana Uhlman, containing an array of sculptures, carvings, masks and jewellery. The Gallery presents a series of prestigious and stimulating temporary exhibitions.
