Captain Cook Birthplace Museum


The Captain Cook Birthplace Museum is set in the scenic grounds of Stewart Park, and traces the life of Captain James Cook, the world´s most famous explorer. Born in 1728 it provides a unique insight into his early life, seafaring career, the legacy of his voyages and experience life below decks for a sailor of the 18th century. On display are charts from his voyages, descriptions of the flora and fauna, and the wonderful sights he found on his adventures. Audio-visual presentations, hands-on interactive displays and original objects are interesting and fun for all ages. There is a temporary exhibition gallery with a regular programme of events.
