New Walk Museum & Art Gallery
New Walk Museum & Art Gallery is situated within the historic New Walk area of the city. In 1849, the Literary & Philosophical Society formally presented to the town its various collections; these have grown and developed over the past 150 years to become one of the premiere collections and museums in the Midlands. Wide-ranging collections span the natural and cultural world, providing an inspiration for many people. Galleries and exhibitions include `Wild Space´ (hands-on exhibition investigating the amazing world of nature and the well-being of the planet); `The Mighty Dinosaurs´, `Leicestershire´s Rocks´, `Ancient Egyptians´, fantastic art galleries, and `Discover´ for children aged 2-8 years. Gallery spaces also host temporary and community exhibitions. It is also a licensed venue for weddings.
