Abbey Pumping Station Museum

Abbey Pumping Station is Leicester´s Museum of Science & Technology. Situated adjacent to the National Space Centre, the two attractions tell the story of over 200 years of science and technology. Opened in 1891, the grand Victorian building and decorated beam engines were a source of great civic pride, and pumped Leicester´s sewage to the treatment works. The might and beauty of Victorian engineering can be seen working at special steam events. The museum also houses exhibitions on: light and optics, historic transport and public health.
