Warrington Museum & Art Gallery

The Warrington Museum & Art Gallery opened in 1857 as a museum, the art galleries were added in 1877 and 1931. Originally the collection was from the local Natural History Society, but has now grown to include a wide range of subjects such as egyptology, ethnology, geology, botany, fish, birds, and pottery. Displays feature a wealth of paintings in oil, and watercolour from the 19th and 20th centuries along with fine art and treasures from ancient civilisations and distant continents. There are two temporary galleries that feature travelling exhibitions and the work of local artists.
