Join us at the Chiltern Open Air Museum for a hands-on journey through 2000 years of living history. The past is captured perfectly in our collection of genuine historic buildings, rescued and reconstructed on 45 acres of rolling countryside and woodland. Take a trip to 1947 and pop into a prefab to find out what’s for tea. Huddle around the indoor fire place of an Iron Age house. Come inside an 18th century cottage and listen while our little girl on the audio tour tells you how it feels to be six years old and working full time as a straw plaiter. You can even experience the comforts of a posh Edwardian Public Convenience. There’s a working Victorian farm and a host of hands-on craft activities, demonstrations and special events to enjoy throughout the summer.
