With more than 40 galleries to explore detailing the greatest scientific break through moments of the last 300 years, the Science Museum is the largest of its type in the world. The museum is fascinating for adults and children alike, thanks to its brilliant hands-on exhibits which allow you, among other things, to make a rainbow and understand through thermal imaging how licking your lips cools you down. Popular exhibitions include the history of aviation from its rudimentary beginnings to mass air travel and the Who Am I area which allows you to see what you would sound like as a member of the opposite sex and see your face as an older person. The Making the Modern World Gallery is also exceptionally good, detailing all the greatest inventions in modern history that changed our world forever. An outstanding London attraction - and it's completely free.
