The Top Ten Destinations for the Business Incentive

by Alex Blyth

Not so long ago, employers argued that keeping your job was reward enough. Some might have given their top salesperson a bottle of champagne on Friday evening, or sent the employee of the month to a local restaurant for dinner. Now though more and more employers are recognising that offering an appealing incentive can encourage their staff to put in that extra effort, to steal a march on the competition, and to boost company profits. The big question is: where to take them? It needs to be somewhere a little bit different, somewhere that will inspire the lucky winners, somewhere that will see them return to the office buzzing with enthusiasm and renewed vigour for their work. Here then are ten ideas.

Showing below are all 6 records in "The Top Ten Destinations for the Business Incentive"

Belmond Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons, Church Road, Great Milton, Oxfordshire

When French-born chef Raymond Blanc opened Le Manoir in the heart of the Oxfordshire countryside way back in 1984 it was a wake-up call to British cooking. It remains one of the country's leading restaurants, notable for the two-acre garden which supplies many of the herbs and vegetables used in the kitchen. Your team can spend a morning working with Monsieur Blanc and his chefs, learning new techniques, and preparing a lunch which you all then enjoy in the restaurant.

Rockliffe Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa (Hotel)

Hurworth-on-Tees, Darlington

Rockliffe Hall Hotel, Golf & Spa, Hurworth-on-Tees, Darlington, Durham

Just two and a half hours by train from London and two hours from Edinburgh, Rockliffe Hall feels like stepping into another world. This Gothic mansion set within 375 acres of stunning land on the banks of the River Tees houses an AA-rated 5* leisure resort. It might be peaceful, but with two bars, three restaurants, an 18-hole championship golf course, and a 50,000 square foot, award-winning spa and wellness centre there will be more than enough for your colleagues to do.

Gleneagles (King's), Auchterarder, Perth & Kinross

Built in 1924 the Gleneagles Hotel in Perthshire is famous the world over as a destination for a golfing trip. The Ryder Cup heads there in 2014, and, from May 2012, corporate groups will be able to embrace the spirit of the event with their very own Shotgun Start tournament. The package includes full scoring and tournament administration from the hotel’s team of PGA Qualified Professionals, and, prior to play, a two-course golfer’s lunch and tuition at the PGA National Academy, Scotland.

Thermae Bath Spa (Spa)

Hetling Pump Room, Hot Bath Street, Bath

Thermae Bath Spa, Hetling Pump Room, Bath, Bath & Northeast Somerset

For stressed-out high performers a few hours relaxing in a spa is just what they need, and there can be no more authentic spa experience than Thermae Bath Spa in the centre of Bath. Britain's only natural thermal spa offers treatments such as Watsu and Vichy Shower as well as massage and reflexology.

Ascot Racecourse, Ascot, Berkshire

A chance to dress up, a trip out of town in a limousine, and a day spent sipping champagne – what could be a better reward for your high performers? If their horses come in they will be even more buzzed up when they return to the workplace.

Famous Grouse Experience (Attraction / Activity)

Glen Turret, The Hosh, Crieff

Famous Grouse Experience, Glen Turret, Crieff, Perth & Kinross

Whisky lovers will love a tour of The Famous Grouse distillery near Crieff. At Scotland’s oldest distillery they will learn how single malt is made and how Famous Grouse is blended. Just down the road is 213-room hotel Crieff Hydro, which is set in a 900-acre estate in which your team can enjoy no less than 40 outdoor activities including off-road driving and quad bike courses, horse riding, archery, laserquest, climbing, and off-road Segway tours.
