Peter Godsiff, a resident of the picturesque Chew Valley in North Somerset for more than 40 years, has spent a lifetime as a sports journalist. He started his career under the direction of renowned international sports writer, the late Ian Wooldridge, at the Bournemouth Times and Poole and Dorset Herald. He moved to the Bristol Evening Post where he spent more than 30 years, initially as chief sports writer and then for the final 12 years as Sports Editor. He covered all sports, primarily football, rugby, cricket and golf. He was Bristol City Football Club correspondent for 25 years and followed both Somerset and Gloucestershire county cricket clubs over the entire period. Amongst his many achievements, he wrote a book - ”Bristol City – The Complete History of the Club” - in 1982. He also edited the Bristol City and Bristol Rovers matchday programmes for many years. He became a freelance golf writer in 1992 and has contributed to newspapers and magazines throughout the world although his base has always been in the West Country. He is recognised as the leading golf journalist in the West. A member of the Association of Golf Writers since 1996, he was editor of Golf West, West Country Golf News and then South West Golfer. He was also consultant and press officer to Farrington Golf and Country Club for eight years and the South West representative for English Club Golfer, the official magazine of the English Golf Union. He has been press officer for the Professional Golfers' Association for Wales and the South West since 1992.
