The Old Bell Hotel, built in 1220 is reputed to be the oldest purpose built hotel in England, still offering warmth, comfort and hospitality and retaining the ambience of a bygone age. There are thirty three individually furnished bedrooms some with antique furniture offering comfort and convenience. The elegance of the restaurant and bar perfectly compliment the award winning cuisine together with an extensive wine list. Dine outside on the terrace in the summer surrounded by the secluded and peaceful garden. Relax and unwind by a log fire in the library, lounge or bar, ideal for doing the crossword or simply having a snooze.

The Old Bell Hotel is part of the following Editors' Picks:

Ten of the Best Haunted Hotels by Amanda Statham

"The east wing of this pretty hotel, one of the oldest in England, was built on an adjacent ruined abbey’s graveyard, which might account for why there have been so many hair-raising incidents reported, such as a grey lady who makes a regular appearance in the James Ody room. Guests have also had belongings thrown across their room, bedclothes removed in the middle of the night and even a heavy wardrobe being wedged behind a door so guests were locked out – sounds suspiciously like stag party antics to me."
