The Swan dates back to the 15th century when it played a key role in Lavenham's wool trade. Today it is a luxury English country hotel with a AA 2 Rosette Gallery Restaurant and a stylish Brasserie. Ancient beams and inglenook fireplaces blend beautifully with rich furnishings and fabrics to create the perfect ambiance for rest and relaxation. Named after local Suffolk villages, many of the Swan's 45 en-suite bedrooms are original in style, some with oak beams and original Medieval wall paintings. From classic double rooms to mezzanine suites and four poster beds, they are sure to delight.

The Swan Hotel at Lavenham is part of the following Editors' Picks:
"This is your quintessential English inn, dating back to the 15th century and the type of place you would expect to appear in Four Wedding and a Funeral – you know, oak beams, creaking wooden floors, open fires and plenty of cosy nooks to nurse a warming whisky in. It also looks pretty impressive from the outside too, its black and white timbered frontage sprawling along the high street where once horse and carriages would have drawn to a stop after a long day on the road to rest and refresh. Talking of which, these days The Swan has a relaxed brasserie for informal meals and afternoon tea or the more upmarket Gallery restaurant for posh nosh. Right now the hotel has an autumn hideaway offer until December 23, charging £105 for accommodation in a classic room, tickets to the nearby Gainsborough’s House, a cream tea, a three-course dinner and full Suffolk breakfast the next day. The offer is based on two people sharing a Classic bedroom."
