With a deep afternoon winter chill in the air, arriving at the Treglos near Padstow to find a pot of piping hot Earl Grey and an array of buttery scones, a fluffy bowl of clotted cream and some locally-made strawberry jam awaiting me in the lounge was a pleasing sign of things to come. Matters improved further once, suitably stuffed, I wandered up the pleasingly creaky old wooden staircase to discover my billet – two smart, modern interconnecting rooms (the kids were in tow), one with glorious views over Constantine Bay. Following an hour or two’s lolling about admiring the view, brushing up in the modern, pretty bathroom and inspecting the Glo Spa (great little pool and Jacuzzi), I returned to the lounge to find it buzzing with guests chatting, drinking G&Ts and inspecting the menu – a really lovely atmosphere. Three hours, three courses, a brandy and a game of post-prandial scrabble later, I was fit to flop. And so I did, in crisp, freshly ironed cotton sheets with the distant sound of the waves lapping and plans to explore Padstow mingling as I slept.

Review of Treglos Hotel

Hotel, management and staff are excellent. Food is wonderful, excellent chefs. Afternoon tea is the best we have ever experienced. Everyone is made to feel special from the time you walk through the door. Service is first class. We have been every year for 7 years and it is always the same. All the staff are very happy there, from the management down. Nothing is too much trouble.
