The AA 4 Star Fowey Hotel sits majestically above the Fowey estuary, offering wonderful views out over the water to the opposite village of Polruan and to the sea. It is set in lovely landscaped gardens. The hotel has held an AA Rosette for excellent food for nearly a decade, so dinner at The Fowey is always an occasion to look forward to. From the hotel it is only a short stroll into the town of Fowey, with its irresistible collection of narrow streets, lanes, shops, galleries, eateries and its bustling harbour. The hotel is only 15 minutes drive from the renowned Eden Project. Most of Cornwall´s key attractions and sites are within easy driving distance of the hotel so it serves as a good base for exploring the rest of the county.
The Fowey Hotel is part of the following Editors' Picks:
Ten of the Best British Beach Wedding Venues by Liz Coggins
"This is a hidden gem of Victorian architecture, perched on a hillside with stunning views of the river and town to one side and the sea on the other. The elegant dining room has large windows that flood the room with natural light and its romantic balcony terrace looks out to sea. But for really dramatic pictures the rocks on the edge of the water provide an unusual backdrop."
Ten of the Best Family Retreats in Cornwall by Hayley Spurway
"Kenneth Grahame, author of Wind in the Willows, once stayed in The Fowey Hotel, and families who follow his lead can indeed enjoy ‘messing around in boats’ just as Ratty did. Overlooking the Fowey estuary you couldn’t be better located for sailing, canoeing and boating adventures – grab a packed lunch from the hotel and moor up in smugglers’ coves and historic harbours. Feet back on dry land, you can still enjoy the watery views from spacious family rooms (sleeping 2 adults and 2 children), and tuck into local seafood prepared by one of Britain’s Master Chefs."
