Situated in the heart of the Isle of Purbeck, Mortons House provides the perfect centre from which to enjoy this beautiful corner of England. Built in 1590 in the shape of an 'E' to honour Queen Elizabeth I, the building has been sympathetically converted into a pretty twenty one bedroom hotel. Rooms are individually decorated with their own unique style and charm; one boasts a four poster bed. The 2 AA Rosette Restaurant serves traditional English food and excellent wines. During the winter months the log fire in the Oak Room crackles warmly.

"The Isle of Purbeck is not really an island although it is surrounded by water or swamps on all sides. This idiosyncratic part of the English coastline is epitomised by Morton’s House, which was built in the 1590s by William Dacomb and extended 1666 using stone taken from the ruins of Corfe Castle. The house was originally linked by underground tunnels to the castle. Its current name comes from John Morton who inherited the house in 1712."
