Maybole has a history dating back to the 1100s and has a wealth of fine buildings especially in the High Street. The Town Hall was built in 1887 and is a fine example of 19th century architecture together with the imposing Maybole Castle situated on a street corner in the town. The Ayr and Maybole railway arrived in the 19th century and is still an important service today.
