Sausmarez Manor
Sausmarez Manor is an historic house lived in by descendents of Seigneurs going back to the early 13th century. Over the generations the family have been explorers, diplomats, admirals and generals who have all left their mark. The facade was built at the bequest of the 1st governor of New York in 1714. There are over 200 pieces of sculpture in the art park and the sub-tropical garden is home to such exotic plants as bamboo, banana trees, tree ferns in abundance, 300 or so camellias, ginger, subtropical lillies, hebes, giant echiums and giant geraniums. Various activities are available including Pitch and Putt, radio controlled boats and demonstrations.
