The Argory
The Argory was built in 1824 for Walter McGeough and is unchanged since 1900. The house is a time capsule, everything is as it was at the turn of the century. Electricity was never installed in the main rooms and lighting was by gas from the acetylene plant installed in 1906. The feature of the house is the magnificent barrel organ built by James Bishop of London, which is still in working order. There is an assortment of family treasures left by four generations including watercolours, books, portraits and clothing.
