Broughton House & Garden
Broughton House is an 18th century town house of the Murrays of Broughton and Cally. Bought in 1901 by E A Hornel, renowned artist, and became his home and studio. The House still contains many of Hornel´s works and paintings by other artists. On display in the library is an extensive collection of Scottish books, including works by Burns and local history material. The cellars are the oldest part of the property, being part of the original tenement that stood on the site. Behind the house a Japanese-style garden has been created.
