Uppark

Uppark is a fine late 17th century house set high on the South Downs. The disasterous fire in 1989 and its restoration add to the magic of this romantic house. The elegant Georgian interior houses a famous Grand Tour collection of paintings that includes works by Pompeo Batoni and Luca Giordano. Also a fine collection of furniture and ceramics. The 18th century dolls´ house on display has all its original contents. In the basement the servants´ quarters are shown as they were in Victorian times. The historic gardens have been restored and are set in a woodland and downland setting.
