Step inside a masterpiece of Elizabethan Design

Montacute House is an Elizabethan house adorned with elegant chimneys, carved parapets, heraldic glass and other Renaissance features. The magnificent state rooms include the Long Gallery which is the largest of its type in Britain, and is full of furniture and Tudor and Elizabethan portraits on loan from the National Portrait Gallery. Also tapestries, hangings and an exhibition of 17th century samplers from the Goodhart Collection. The formal garden with its mixed borders and old roses is surrounded by parkland.

Opening Times: House: 4 Jan to 9 Mar & 8 Nov to 28 Dec, Sat & Sun 12:00-15:00 (by tour only), 15 Mar to 2 Nov, Daily ex Tue 11:00-17:00. Please see NT website for Garden & Parkland opening times.
Admission: NT Members Free. See NT website for admission prices.
Child Friendly:  Children of all ages welcome
Dog Friendly: Dogs Permitted (Dogs under control in parkland. On leads in garden during winter season.)
Location: In Montacute village, four miles west of Yeovil, on south side of A3088, three miles east of A303.
