Wallington dates from 1688, the estate was laid out in the 18th century by Sir Walter Blackett. The interior houses very good Italian Rococo plasterwork in the main rooms and a Victorian hall painted with murals of Northumbrian scenes by William Bell Scott. On display are fine collections of ceramics, curiosities, stuffed birds, geological specimens and dolls houses. The 17th century garden has a walled garden, lawns, lakes, shrubberies and parkland
