Seaton Delaval Hall

Seaton Delaval Hall: Admiral Delaval commissioned Sir John Vanbrugh to build the hall in 1718. The family originally came from France but came here with Duke William of Normandy in 1066. The Hall was damaged by fire in 1822, but successive generations of the family, particularly the late Lord Hastings, undertook extensive repairs to ensure the Hall's survival. The West Wing is still occupied by the family.
