Doddington Hall & Gardens

Doddington Hall stands today in its walled courtyard as it was built in 1600 and has been occupied for over 400 years and is still a family home today. It was built by Robert Smythson, who also designed Longleat and Hardwick Hall. In 1749 the interior was extensively redesigned but the gatehouse and courtyards remain unchanged. The elegant Georgian interior contains a fascinating collection of family portraits, textiles, porcelain and furniture that reflect four centuries of unbroken occupation. Five acres of romantic walled and wild gardens have continuous colour from spring till autumn. Spring bulb displays a speciality. Free audio tours, childrens activities and also award-winning facilities for disabled visitors.
