Berkeley Castle

Berkeley Castle has been in the possession of the same family for over 800 years - celebrated by Shakespeare, the scene of Edward II´s murder in 1327, breached by the Roundheads in the Civil War, host to Francis Drake, Elizabeth I, and many English kings and queens - and is still home to the Berkeley family today. The State Apartments contain collections of furniture, rare paintings and tapestries. The Dining Room has a display of the world-famous Berkeley silver. Surrounded by an Elizabethan terraced garden with a lily pond and sweeping lawns.
