Mount Edgcumbe House & Country Park

Mount Edgcumbe was built by Sir Richard Edgcumbe of Cotehele in his deer park in 1547-53. The house was destroyed in 1941 during the Blitz on Plymouth and was restored by Adrian Gilbert Scott in 1958, on the instructions of the 6th Earl. Now beautifully furnished with family possessions, including paintings by Sir Joshua Reynolds, Gerard Edema and William van de Velde. Also Irish bronze age horns, 16th century tapestries and 18th century Chinese and Plymouth porcelain. Set in over 800 acres of parkland, with formal gardens and ancient rare trees.
