Nostell Priory

Nostell Priory was built in 1733 for Sir Rowland Winn, the house is an architectural masterpiece by James Paine. The State Rooms were later completed by Robert Adam, and are magnificent examples of 18th century interior style. It houses one of England´s best collections of Chippendale furniture, designed specially for the house, an outstanding art collection with works by Angelica Kauffmann and Peter Brueghel the Younger, and the John Harrison long case clock with its rare movement made of wood. The 18th century doll´s house is complete with original fittings and Chippendale-style furniture. In the grounds there are delightful lakeside walks.
