Raby Castle


Raby Castle; This dramatic mediaeval Castle, built by the mighty Nevills has been home to Lord Barnard´s family since 1626. Set within a large deer park, with delightful rolling landscape and walled gardens. Highlights include the Barons Hall where 700 knights gathered to plot a rebellion against Elizabeth I, a splendid Victorian octagonal drawing room with one of the most striking interiors from the 19th century and in contrast a mediaval kitchen, used until 1954. On display are fine furniture, impressive artworks, elaborate architecture. Events take place throughout the summer. Colour illustrated guidebook and DVD available.
