Houghton Hall

Houghton Hall is one of the finest examples of an 18th century Palladian Mansion, built by Britain´s first Prime Minister, Sir Robert Walpole. The original designs were by James Gibbs and Colin Campbell and interiors by William Kent. The White Drawing Room is hung with white and gold Rococo wall hangings, a gift from the Prince of Wales in 1797. The Staterooms contain many of the original furnishings. The Model Soldier Collection has over 20,000 model soldiers arranged in various battle formations. The five acre walled garden has fruit and vegetables, herbaceous borders and a formal rose garden.
