Burghley House
Burghley House, built in the late 16th century was the home of the Cecil family for over 400 years. The interior was remodelled in the late 17th century and houses an important private collection of Italian paintings and the earliest inventoried collection of Chinese and Japanese ceramics. Also fine examples of wood carvings by Grinling Gibbons and his followers, four magnificent state beds, fine English and continental furniture, and important tapestries and textiles. Set in a 300 acre deer park, landscaped by Capability Brown, with a lake and mature trees.
