Ightham Mote
Ightham Mote is a superb moated manor house dating from the early 14th century. It was bought in 1953 by American, Charles Robinson, who had first seen the house on a tour of Kent before the First World War. The main features of the house, which is built around an internal courtyard, span many centuries and include the Great Hall, Old Chapel, crypt and Tudor chapel with painted ceiling. On display are collections of furniture, tapestries and stained glass. The library, Charles Robinson´s favourite, has been kept as a memorial to him. The extensive gardens have interesting walks in the surrounding woodland.
