Osborne House

Osborne House was built for Queen Victoria and Prince Albert as a private home. It was designed by Prince Albert and built by Thomas Cubitt in Italianate style. Many of the rooms have been preserved and unaltered since the death of Queen Victoria, here in 1901. The children´s rooms are on the second floor, which allowed easy access for their parents. The Durbar Room, added in 1890 when the Queen became Empress of India, now houses an exhibition of Indian gifts. Set among terraced gardens with stunning views over the Solent.
