Sherborne Castle

Sherborne Castle is an historic country house, built by Sir Walter Raleigh in 1594 and extended by the Digby family whose stately home it has been since 1617. The rooms are a variety of styles from Tudor, Jacobean, Georgian to Victorian. Prince William of Orange was entertained here and George III visited in 1789. On display are fine collections of art, pictures, furniture, Oriental and European ceramics representing four hundred years of collecting. Delightful setting with a 50 acre lake created by Capability Brown in 1753, and 30 acres of beautiful lakeside gardens and grounds, majestic trees and landscaped parkland.
