Hutton-In-The-Forest
The historic house at Hutton-In-The-Forest is based on a medieval pele tower, with substantial additions in 17th, 18th and 19th centuries. Entrance is through the medieval Stone Hall, hung with a variety of weapons. The new hall has a Cupid Staircase, with a Mortlake tapestry. On display are collections of family portraits, tapestries, furniture and oriental porcelain. The Cupid Room has an exquisite ceiling, by Joseph Rose the Elder, and the Arts and Crafts Movement is well represented in several rooms. Surrounded by beautiful gardens, with terraces, a walled garden, topiary, dovecot and woodland walks. There is only partial disabled access.
