Canons Ashby House
Home of the Dryden family, Canons Ashby House was built in the mid-16th century and has survived more or less unaltered since 1710. The house had no heating or plumbing even for the visit of Queen Mary in 1937. The interior contains murals and plasterwork of the highest quality. Also a good collection of furniture, pewter, tapestries and family portraits. The formal garden has an orchard featuring a variety of fruit trees from the 16th century and a medieval priory church within the grounds.
