Anglesey Abbey, Gardens and Lode Mill

Anglesey Abbey dates from 1600 and was built on the site of a 12th century Augustinian Priory. Its life as a religious community came to an end in 1535 with Henry VIII“s dissolution of the monasteries. It houses a unique collection of over 750 paintings, watercolours and prints. There are fine examples of furniture, silver and tapestries and one of the largest collections of clocks. The 100 acre landscaped garden and arboretum has over 100 pieces of sculpture and a working 18th century water mill.
