Eltham Palace
Eltham Palace, completed in 1936, is the only English Art Deco house open to the public, and is an eclectic mix of high style French influenced Art Deco. The bathroom is gold leaf and onyx, and throughout the house are veneered walls and built-in furniture. The Great Hall, incorporated into the house, was built for Edward IV in the 1470s. The 19 acres of beautiful gardens are a mixture of formal and informal, and include herbaceous borders, a rock garden and a sunken rose garden. New for 2006: Original 1930s family video footage played in a new home cinema.
