Lamport Hall & Gardens are a hidden gem set in beautiful countryside. The Hall contains a delightful collection of art and furniture accumulated over four centuries by the Isham family, including paintings by Van Dyck, Kneller and Lely. A highlight is the High Room, designed in the 1650s by John Webb, pupil of Inigo Jones. The 10-acre gardens have features dating back to the 17th century. Lamport has one of the earliest rockeries and is famous as 'the home of the garden gnome'. Other highlights include the 2-acre walled garden, full of flowers throughout the season, together with a museum of rural life and a splendid Edwardian stable block.
