Kenwood House
Kenwood House was remodelled by Robert Adam in 1754, by adding a portico and wings to enclose the courtyard, for the 1st Earl of Mansfield. It was bought in 1925 by Lord Iveagh and houses one of the most important collections of paintings, which he left to the nation in 1927. Included are works by Rembrandt, Gainsborough, Turner, Van Dyck to name but a few. Most of the furniture was sold in 1922, but it is gradually being returned, like the 1811 harp and sideboard found in America. The richly decorated library is one of Adam´s masterpieces.
