Hever Castle Golf Club, situated on the famous historic castle estate just 30 miles from London in West Kent, started as a nine-hole private lay out for the Astor family in 1922, became derelict, but was revived 70 years later to become one of the area’s top courses, measuring 7000 yards (par 72). The shorter Princes (par 35) was added to the championship front nine (Kings) and back nine (Queens) in 1998. Ten lakes and ponds add to the natural parkland attraction of an ancient land complemented by an attractive Tudor-style clubhouse. Water features on the first three par threes, notably on the sixth and eighth. The 17th at 644 yards is one of the longest in the country. Tree lined fairways, craftily-placed bunkers and neat slick greens add to the challenge.
